A quick rundown of my work
I was the project lead, principal designer, and principal front-end developer; my tasks included a complete visual overhaul of the website, creating and implementing a consistent UI with modular components that could be used throughout the site, updating the user flows and the overall UX, designing and implementing forms and searchable views for user-inputted data with custom taxonomies, custom WordPress plugin development for a registration and profile system that interfaced seamlessly with the user-submitted data system, developing a workflow for version control and site maintenance that maintained the integrity of user-submitted data and minimised downtime; leading user testing cycles for each major functional component of the site; and directing and training other members of the team in WordPress and front-end development.
This project focused on the design and development of an online platform to encourage greater visibility for local businesses and strengthen local and social procurement across Gippsland, funded by the Latrobe Valley Authority (Victorian Government) and supported by the 6 Gippsland councils.
Business Connect was a product developed to scale, so it could be ported and deployed to other custom instances (ie other council areas). Our work included designing the deployment and customisation process for this system, including setting up the core system (the framework to run all the instances).
The live site for the Gippsland Business Connect project may be accessed at https://gippsland.businessconnect.io (please note it has been handed off to the client, whose developer has added new features to the site).
